Activities in Weymouth

From April until the end of the summer, Weymouth is awash with colourful entertainment and exciting events from first thing in the morning to brilliant firework displays until well after dark.

For those with an artistic bent, Sculptures at Tout Quarry has an impressive display of sculptures made from local Portland limestone, and carving and sculpture workshops for those who like to get their hands dusty.

Weymouth has some exciting off road tracks, leisurely afternoon rides as well as more challenging long distance routes for you to enjoy. Bicycle hire is available nearby from £8 per day. This can be booked at Reception and we can arrange delivery and collection to and from your holiday home, a helmet, lock, toolkit and pump.

Bird Watching

It is also an excellent area for bird watching. The promontory attracts a wide range of migrating land birds, and in the right conditions, you can see shearwaters, skuas, terns and scoter. In the late spring the passage of pomerine skuas is a popular attraction, as are the purple sandpipers that feed around the Pulpit Rock on Portland Bill.

With over 40 golf courses in Dorset, you’re spoilt for choice. And with picturesque countryside, scenic coastlines and rolling hills, you’re spoilt for views too.

There are riding schools in Weymouth that offer something to suit all levels of riders so you are able to explore the trails and bridleways and take in the stunning scenery on horseback.

Rock Climbing

The Isle of Portland offers over 900 rock-climbing routes of varying difficulty, all set against the background of spectacular cliffs and coastline.

Sea Angling

With a wealth of marine life for both boat and shore anglers, you're sure to have plenty of fisherman's tales to tell. Fishing trips operate from the harbour daily, it is worth booking ahead, spaces fill up quickly!

Weymouth Skatepark on the front is one of the UK's top outdoor venues for BMX, skateboards and rollerblades.

Whether you're an ambitious rambler or the gentlest of amblers, with 630 miles of coastline there's a route to suit you. Reception can provide recommended walks to explore the area of unspoilt beauty.

For water sports enthusiasts, Weymouth Bay and Portland Harbour are perfect venues to learn and practice the hottest water sports around: kite-surfing, power-kiting, sailing, windsurfing and diving.

Whatever you decide to do, you’ll find the area overflowing with possibilities.
