    21 / July / 2022

Want to experience a spookier side to Dorset at half-term? There are plenty of Halloween events in the county around the 31st of October. From thrilling farm days to hair-raising Halloween trails and historic haunted attractions, celebrating Halloween in Dorset will satisfy adults and children alike. Plan an exciting Halloween in Dorset this year with our top picks of gruesome activities and attractions – broomsticks at the ready!

    Mapperton Halloween Trail

Every October, the beautiful Grade I listed Mapperton Country House transforms its extensive gardens into a hair-raising Halloween trail. Designed for all ages, the trail provides a set of clues to help you navigate around the trail – with plenty of spooky sights enroute! The trail runs from Sunday 23rd until Thursday the 28th of October, and fancy dress is encouraged. At less than an hour’s drive from all of our luxury Dorset holiday parks, be sure to add this to your list while staying with us.

    Halloween Fun at Nothe Fort

One of Weymouth’s top attractions, Nothe Fort, which is located at the entrance of the harbour, boasts a rich history and stunning views across Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast. Best of all, this October, the fort will play host to a range of spooky Halloween events designed to keep the whole family entertained, making it a great place to celebrate Halloween in Dorset. One of the top highlights includes the gruesome ghost tunnels – a maze of underground passages that are bound to give you a fright! The Halloween fun runs from the 22nd-30th  of October.

    Farmer Palmers

At around a half-hour drive from our Dorset parks, this award-winning attraction in Poole has been created with young children in mind and this Halloween in Dorset, the farm park will be having a spooky makeover. The staff (aka the ‘Boo Crew’) are on-hand to keep everyone entertained with their scary costumes and visitors can experience the “Soak-a-Spook” tractor ride. There’s also pumpkin picking (new for 2022) and plenty of non-Halloween areas on the farm for families to explore.

    Dorchester Prison

For friends and couples looking for something to do at Halloween in Dorset, on Friday the 28th of October, Dorchester Prison will open its doors for a terrifying evening of fun. This abandoned prison which dates back to the late 18th century will play host to a hair-raising evening which includes thirst-quenching beverages throughout the night. There’s also a creepy tour of the ‘haunted’ Victorian prison, ghost hunting and an array of spine-chilling vigils.

    Allendale Centre

For families looking for something a little different, on the afternoon of Sunday 30th of October, the Allendale Community Centre in Wimborne will be holding a ‘Spooktacular Halloween Party’ for children aged 3-11. Fancy dress is strongly encouraged and there will be a disco, plus plenty of party games and prizes. The fun-filled afternoon is bound to get the whole family into the ‘spirit’ of Halloween!
